Hi, I recently purchased an ALCo builders plate from an auction house which came off Schenectady Works built No 74062 of 1945 and am trying to identify the loco it came off. I've looked through a list of ALCo Diesel builders numbers and have come to the conclusion that this must have been a steam loco built during one of the last years of steam construction. Can anyone identify the loco please or guide me to a list of ALCo steam loco builders numbers/loco types?

I'm pretty sure someone out there has this information, since I've received corrections and updates from an individual that seemed to have a comprehensive list of Alco numbers. I've emailed him, and hope to find out from him the information you seek.k

I, myself am pretty certain that that plate is from a steam loco. I have an ALCO plate too, number 70018, from Schenectady Works, and built in November 1942. If you find something let me know, I'm trying to track mine down and will keep an eye out for yours.
