I am looking for information on the location of the Feather river Pine Railroad and the route of the Pacific Union coming down North feather river prior to the completion of Oroville Dam. I have an old slide of my father and his brother from the early sixties standing on a portion of the tracks along a steep canyon. I am unable to locate the slide at this time. He mentioned he was able to hear the construction of the dam but coudnt see it. There was also a swinging bridge that they walked over to reach the other side where the tracks were. I don't know if this was the old Bidwell suspension bridge. After the early fifties they closed it to vehicles. ( Ive rode the locomotive in Jamestown that used to run the lumber route.)
With the water being so low I want to go up to Oroville and see if I would be able to identify the location. I would greatly appreciate any help someone might have in trying to help me solve this.
The two railroad men working in the buildings along the track told my father that when the dam was completed the water would cover the tracks. He made it sound like these tracks were not in the bottom of the canyon?
Thank you Darren Webb
